Broward Health announced Friday that it has opened appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine for those at risk aged 18 and older.
As of Friday afternoon, all appointments were filled, according to a spokesperson for Broward Health. It’s unclear exactly when the healthcare system will open another round of appointments, but it will likely be next week.
Patients 18 years of age and older who meet any of the following high-risk groups are eligible for the vaccine by appointment only:
- Asthma (moderate to severe)
- Cancer
- Cerebrovascular disease
- Chronic kidney disease
- COPD
- Cystic fibrosis
- Down syndrome
- Heart disease such as (heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathy)
- Hypertension or high blood pressure
- Immunocompromised condition due to a blood or bone marrow transplant, immune deficiencies, HIV, use of corticosteroids or use of weakening drugs or a solid organ transplant
- Liver disease
- Neurological conditions, such as dementia
- Overweight or obese (body mass index greater than 25)
- Pregnancy
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Sickle cell anemia
- Smoking
- Thalassemia
- Type 1 diabetes mellitus
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus
Patients are asked to complete a vaccine consent form, which was pulled from the Broward Health website as of Friday afternoon.
Broward Health says it vaccinates more than 1,000 people a day at Inter Miami CF stadium in Lockhart Park. The public can register for the appointments at BrowardHealth.org.
