The NFL has suspended Cleveland Brown's running back Kareem Hunt for the first eight games of the upcoming season for violating his personal behavior policy, the league announced.
The NFL said Hunt's suspension stemmed from an incident in February 2018 in which he had hit a woman during an early morning altercation outside her downtown residence. Cleveland City, and an incident occurred in June 2018 that had involved a physical altercation with other men at Put-in. -Bay, Ohio.
The broadcast of the video of the February incident, and the fact that Hunt lied about it, prompted the Kansas City Chiefs to release the half back on November 30th. The NFL has investigated a third incident in Kansas City, but said that there would be no discipline of that.
Hunt was not charged in any of the incidents.
Hunt has informed the league that he accepts the decision.
Hunt will lose $ 303,529 from his $ 645,000 base salary with his eight-game suspension. Upon his return, he will have a chance to win $ 200,000 in match bonuses per game. He will then be a restricted free agent in the next intermediate season for the Browns.

The Browns know that Odell Beckham Jr. brings some luggage, but General Manager John Dorsey thinks his talent outweighs the risk.

"I respect the league 's disciplinary decision and appreciate the time I spent with Commissioner Goodell last week, I am grateful for the time I spent with the Browns. over the last month and i thank all the people from the organization who have hosted me.I also appreciate all the support i have received from my union throughout this process and my commitment to gain the trust of the league, my teammates, the organization and this community will continue through my actions, and I understand that a lot of work is needed in front of me before I am able to fully go back to playing the game I love. "
Hunt can participate in team games, minicamps and team preparatory games. His suspension will only come into effect on August 31, the day of the last downsizing before the season opens. The Browns expect him to be present at the start of the offseason practice on April 1st.
Browns general manager John Dorsey selected Hunt for the Chiefs in 2017, when Dorsey was the team's chief executive.
"I want everyone to know that we have done extensive research on this case, this player," Dorsey told reporters last month explaining why the team had signed Hunt's candidacy. "He understands and assumes full responsibility for the blatant act he has committed.He is extremely repentant for his actions."
Hunt led the NFL as a rookie in 2017 with 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns to help Kansas City qualify for the playoffs. He also participated in 53 receptions for 455 yards and three touchdowns. Last season, he had 824 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games. He touched seven touchdowns before being released.
