Quarterback Tom Brady has been solid throughout his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
But Bruce Arians might be more impressed with frontman Tom Brady.
The Arians have always praised Brady’s leadership since the Bucs first met for training camp this summer. That trend continued on Sunday when Brady helped lead Tampa Bay to a divisional round victory in New Orleans against the Saints.
But while rocking his cap at TB12, the Bucs head coach might have taken a hit against Brady’s former team.
“An accomplished leader,” Arians said of Brady, by Peter King of NBC Sports. “Has been all year. I have the air of confidence that permeates our team every day. I allow him to be himself. Like, New England didn’t allow him to train. I allow him to coach. I just sometimes sit and watch.
A sentiment from another ancient patriot supports the Arians’ claim. Rob Gronkowski, also in his first season with the Bucs, said the biggest difference between the Tampa Bay and New England diets is the freedom to be yourself in the former.
Regardless of how Brady really felt for Belichick and Co., he must surely be delighted with the decision he made in March. The Patriots watched the playoffs from their couches, and the Bucs are one win away from Super Bowl LV.
