Global Citizen announced the 2021 edition of Global Citizen Live, a 24-hour show featuring performances and events filmed around the world. The livestream takes place on Saturday, September 25 and airs on ABC, ABC News Live, BBC, FX, iHeartRadio, Hulu, YouTube and Twitter.

Artists performing at this year’s event include Adam Lambert, Alessia Cara, Andrea Bocelli, Angélique Kidjo, Billie Eilish, BTS, Burna Boy, Camila Cabello, Christine and the Queens, Coldplay, Davido, Demi Lovato, DJ Snake, Doja Cat, Duran Duran, Ed Sheeran, Femi Kuti, Green Day, ELLE, Hugh Jackman & Deborra-lee Furness, Keith Urban, Lang Lang, Lizzo, Lorde, Metallica, Rag’n’Bone Man, Ricky Martin, Shawn Mendes, the Lumineers, the Weeknd, Tiwa Savage, Usher and many more will be announced.

Like last year, Global Citizen Live will bring Global Citizen’s message to end global poverty, with a special focus on the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic across the globe.

“COVID-19 has radically reversed progress towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, pushing more than 160 million people into extreme poverty,” Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans said in a statement. “There are now over 40 million people on the brink of famine. Progress on climate change has stalled because the majority of Fortune 500 companies have not set science-based carbon reduction targets. We must undo the damage done and hold world leaders and businesses accountable for ensuring that the whole world recovers from this pandemic together. “Fair recovery” is not an act of charity – it is the only way to guarantee a fighting chance to achieve a sustainable world free from extreme poverty. “
