Problems in the livestock sector are continuing. Farmers have protested in recent days with requests for state support. There is also an animal plague in the Strandja area. Thousands of animals have been euthanized for the disease. Farmers stay without their livestock, do not stop fears that the crisis may develop. At the same time, injured people have many questions to ask veterinary authorities.
Today, the slaughter of animals must continue. On the spot in the village of Sharkovo, Yambol, there are people who want to oppose the killing of small ruminants
In this context, the story of grandmother Dora, who traveled through social networks, touched Bulgaria.
Thousands of people have shared photos and videos on Facebook showing the suffering of an elderly woman who considers her own goats as her own children. Baba Dora even calls one of the named animals.
The woman in tears told regional radio "999" that she will not allow the euthanasia of her 30 goats and children and that she would lie down if necessary to arrest the authorities.
Baba Dora is firmly convinced that there is no infection on her farm, and she does not ask her why they do not treat the animals, but the ultimate measures are taken to kill them. Desperate, the woman calls people to stand by her and support her in this difficult moment .
"These are the rules for viral diseases. The only way that can limit the disease.Yesterday I went through the regions and I think the control that had to be established was not enough," said Dr. Damian Iliev, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BSAF).
"I met the district governor of the border police." The two rings had to contain the disease – one in the ten-kilometer zone around the epidemic, from which the outgoing animals and the production cars were to be inspected and disinfected. The second ring is the municipality, where there should be no production for the country, "added Dr. Iliev.
He stated that the question of whether there are sick animals is not relevant .
"There is no reason to be asked after taking six thousand samples. They are sent to a European reference laboratory. On Monday, a European mission comes to see if our measures at the border of municipalities and homes are sufficiently effective, "he said.
" If the animals begin to die and we have not taken the measures, the disease will reach Vidin ," said the director of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
Meanwhile, thousands of Internet users are expressing their indignation at the euthanasia of ruminants on the small farms of the elderly in the villages where the disease is located.
