Four HIV-positive people were diagnosed at a screening event in the city

Plovdiv. Four HIV-positive people were diagnosed during a screening campaign in Plovdiv for free and anonymous badually transmitted infection tests. This was announced for FOCUS Radio – Plovdiv the organizers of the initiative, which held from 16 to 20 July 2018 in the city. The newly diagnosed HIV cases are a 56-year-old woman and men aged 26, 52 and 39 years. Two of the patients over 50 have never been tested and two of them have been tested for HIV more than 2 years ago
During the week, a total of 155 residents of Plovdiv were included in the screening. Hepatitis C was detected in two patients over 50, who also did their tests for the first time, and who did not know that they were the virus before being tested. Positive tests for hepatitis B showed for 5 people – 4 men and one woman. The youngest infected with hepatitis B is 32 years old and the oldest, 63 years old.
The trend for syphilis patients is worrying, organizers of the screening action also reported. Of all the patients tested, 8 have a positive result for infection. Among patients, there is only one woman co-infected with HIV. The others with syphilis are men, the youngest being 21 years old and the oldest at 60 years old. All people infected with syphilis are men who have bad with men.
