Sofia. Parliament has chosen Dr. Decho Dechev as Director of the NHIF. "For his nomination, 124 deputies voted" against "- 0 and" abstained "- 1, with which Dr. Dechev was elected governor with a mandate until 12 March 2020. According to the rules of procedure for the Election, his nomination was considered to have been adopted after more than half of the deputies voted in favor.
The election of a new treasury governor was necessary because on June 20, 2018, MPs released Professor Kamen Plochev from this position. After the release of the previous governor, the parliamentary groups had the opportunity to nominate candidates by July 3, 2018. Only one proposal was made by GERB and the United Patriots, who raised the nomination of the Dr. Decho Dechev.
After the appointment of Dr. Dechev, the Minister of Health, Kiril Ananiev, said that Dr. Decho Dechev had all his support. Ananiev expressed hope with him to implement the new model in health care.
During the debate, Professor Georgi Yordanov of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) stated that his group would not support the appointment of Dr. Decho Dechev as manager of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), not because he doubted his qualities.
The United Patriots have announced their overall parliamentary support for all reasonable initiatives of Dr. Decho Dechev.
The MRF said it would support Dr. Decho Dechev as the director of the NHIF, but noted that it was the confidence in the advance
For his part, Dr. Decho Dechev said that if his proposals were to be supported, 2019 will be the first, that the NHIF will end without a deficit. He explained that the drug policy would also be based on the principles of efficiency and performance
In his interview, the newly elected director of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) proposed that the medical audit be a public agency placed under the authority of the Prime Minister to exercise real control over the medical profession.
"This agency should become a state agency, ie be subordinated to the Prime Minister of the country, use its headquarters and budget and exercise effective control over the cashier because it is currently absent, "he said.
"I know a lot of people who work in the Health Fund and I think they'll be participating in the future team that will make the changes I'm proposing," said the new director of the Treasury.
FOCUS News Agency recalls: The NHIF remained without a governor after Parliament rejected Professor Kamen Plochev's position on June 20, 2018. Professor Plochev was elected director of the National Health Insurance Fund in July 2017. His candidature has been proposed by GERB and the United Patriotes. In February 2018, Professor Kamen Plochev stated that he had been threatened with resignation. "Who threatened me and told him to tell me, let me save him," said Professor Plochev. A little later, he went to the hospital. At the end of May 2018, Prof. Plochev asked to leave his post by referring to an article in the Health Act, according to which if three months can not fulfill his obligations due to illness, he can resign and leave. Then the Treasury Supervisory Board decided to send Plochev's letter to Parliament and let the deputies decide whether he would be released
