Sofia. MEPs adopted at first reading amendments to the law on the protection of the environment, initiated by Deputy Prime Minister Valeriy Simeonov. The amendments provide for a ban on outdoor noise near residential buildings from 11:00 pm to 8:00 am Deputy Prime Minister Simeonov announced that the sanctions for the violations will double. He noted that in addition to stress, anxiety and mental disorders, noise has an impact on the cardiovascular system. Valery Simeonov said the changes will not lead to a decrease in the number of tourists on the Black Sea coast, but instead they will increase. The amendments to the law require that open areas be restrained only by means of sound instruments with mounted automatic controls that control the sound level in order to avoid an equivalent noise level exceeding the normative limit values. Municipal events will be released from the restrictions. The draft law defines the procedure for issuing work permits by municipalities. The RIS is expected to issue an opinion as part of the procedure. During the prohibition period, the control is entrusted to the Ministry of the Interior. The police will have the power to put an end to the violations and impose administrative sanctions.
