The report of the Joint United Nations Program on HIV / AIDS (UNAIDS) indicates that the fight against the epidemic is in a "phase of uncertainty" . Although deaths are decreasing and being treated more, the number of new infections can disrupt the pace of efforts to conquer the disease.
"Promises made to the most vulnerable are not respected, and there is still a long way to go before the end of the AIDS epidemic, time is running out," he writes in the report
Michelle Sidibe, Executive Director of the United Nations Program on HIV / AIDS (UNAIDS), noted in the report's preface that great progress has been made in reducing the number of deaths from AIDS and a record number of people on antiretrovirals .
"Crisis points", however, are in the prevention of the spread of infection among high-risk and vulnerable people, as well as in the provision of permanent funding.
