Sofia. 138 of the planned 227 extension activities of Unit VI of the Kozloduy NPP have already been completed. This was clarified during the presentation of the results of the project to extend the life of an energy unit, which took place at the Ministry of Energy. 70 activities will be completed by the end of the year and the remaining 19 in the next licensing period
Minister Temenujka Petkova said that the Kozloduy nuclear power plant supplies 33% of the country's electricity. According to her, the factory is a guarantee that Bulgarian consumers receive clean energy at a good price. Minister Petkova added that these activities were carried out with the resource of the Kozloduy plant and that the financial result that the company reports for 2017 is a net profit of BGN 118 million. "Today, we have seen how one of the main priorities of the Bulgarian government in the energy sector is achieved," she said.
On behalf of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, the transmission protocol was signed by Executive Director Ivan Andreev and Rusatom Served by General Manager Evgeniy SALKOV. Protocols of the 138 steps already taken to expand the operation of Unit 6 have also been signed
The Executive Director of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant Ivan Andreev said that the funds planned for this year only for unit 6 are 43 million leva. According to him, by the end of 2017, BGN 262 million was spent for both units and BGN 180 million was spent to increase power. Andreev added that negotiations are underway with "Tvel" to extend the contract for storing and processing nuclear fuel.
The Deputy Director General of Rosatom, Director of OAO Atomenergoprom and Chairman of the World Nuclear Association, Kiril Komarov, said that the extension of the operating period of the 5th and 6th blocks was a very project. important. Komarov said that it was actually giving these two power units a second life, which would give them safety and security in the next 30 years. He added that more than 50 years ago, in 1966, a peace agreement on the use of atomic energy between Bulgaria and the then USSR, and this cooperation has developed for more than 50 years.
