REXBURG, Idaho (KIFI) – Friday was move-in day for BYU-Idaho students. The students have moved into their new apartments today for next year. Excitement was growing for most of the students to be back, especially as COVID-19 hampered many activities on campus last year.

“I stayed during the summer term and the campus was pretty empty. It’s great to see the liveliness, the energy. It’s great to see people back on campus,” the student said. sophomore David Skidmore. “Some of my roommates are freshmen and it helps me relive those memories of my first semester.”

“In fact, having classes in person,” said sophomore Lydia Dochterman. “I’m excited for it. I don’t do well online so I’m a lot more excited to see people, even though I can’t see their whole face. I do a little writing and stuff like that so Glad to be back and able to put stuff on the library poetry board. “

It’s not just about the excitement though. A lot of nerves build up for the start of the semester with classes and meeting new people.

“I think it’s difficult because you don’t know anyone at the start and you have almost no expectation of what happens when you walk in,” said Junior Brett Banner. “So that’s a bit of an adjustment at first. Honestly, I feel like it’s one of the most important things that helps build a bit of character, it’s cool and gives you a little more confidence to train yourself to meet new people and most of the people you meet here are super nice so it’s not too difficult. “

Fall semester classes for BYU-Idaho begin Monday.
