The Duchess of Cornwall has reportedly floundered in the ownership argument that has been dubbed “the Battle of Belgravia” to voice her disapproval of the controversial plan. The Duke of Westminster Hugh Grosvenor’s property group has met a storm of criticism over the plan and has been accused of operating on a ‘profit before people’ policy.
The project, which has been given the green light by Westminster City Council, will see four blocks of the apartment block near Victoria Station demolished and replaced with new housing.
The Stack House on Cundy Street was given the name “Artiso Apartments” at the time due to the high number of Blue Bloods living there.
Camilla lived in a two-bedroom apartment in her twenties before marrying Andrew Parker-Bowles.
In 1972, then 25, invited Prince Charles to return home for coffee after a night out at Annabel’s nightclub in Mayfair.
A number of local residents opposed the redevelopment plans.
The Duchess of Cornwall has made her concerns known privately, according to The Telegraph.
The planned construction will reach up to 48m in height in some areas and neighbors fear it will block their sunlight.
Many have argued that the design would be out of place in the old chic Belgravia district.

Leading the campaign to stop construction is Dame Susan Tinson, former editor at ITV.
Dame Tinson, who was responsible for producing the Queen’s Christmas shows during her tenure on television, said her home would be directly affected by the project.
The 78-year-old told the Sunday Telegraph: “I just thought at first that they couldn’t mean that.
“They can’t completely ruin the lives of a row of people, but they don’t seem to care.
“There is a difference between buying a house that is dark and buying a house that is bright and then being forced into darkness.
“Grosvenor is supposed to be the guardian of Belgravia. This is all very upsetting.
Camilla, 73, worked as a secretary for various West End businesses during her days.
She then landed a receptionist position at Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler, a Mayfair-based decorating company.
Before moving into the apartment in Belgravia, she lived in a small apartment in Kensington with her friend Jane Wyndham, a niece of decorator Nancy Lancaster.
