One of three men convicted of attacking an autistic man in a Mississauga bus terminal is expected to be released on Wednesday.
Ronjot Singh Dhami, 25, was sentenced to a 12-month sentence today by a Brampton court after pleading guilty to aggravated badault. However, he has been credited for the time spent in detention. He has already had his day.
At the appearance, Dhami apologized to the victim and his family, while saying that he knew that "it will not be accepted".
Dhami and two other men were captured by a security camera that repeatedly hit the 29-year-old victim while she was sitting on a staircase last March.
The three men were arrested in connection with the incident, although it is unclear when the others, Jaspaul Uppal and Parmvir "Parm" Singh Chahil, both 21 years old, will be sentenced.
Dhami, who left Surrey, BC, to work as a truck driver in Ontario, will be on probation for two years and banned from possessing prohibited weapons for life.
His lawyer refused to talk to reporters.
