Ridley Scott goes from the front with a sequel to the essential and commercial blockbuster "Gladiator".
A direct follow-up to the historic success "Gladiator" (2000) is in preparation, according to Deadline, which indicates that the film "will take time to meet", but once the foundations have been laid, the film "could unfold very quickly".
Russell Crowe played in the original in the role of Maximus, a Spanish general of the Roman army. The family of Maximus is murdered by the son of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, Commodus (a scholar of Joaquin Phoenix), who gives priority to power, even to his own family ties.
Become a slave, Maximus becomes a redoubtable gladiator, at once skilful in the fight and the spectacle that will please the crowd, and will avenge himself against a vicious and cunning Commode, become emperor himself.
Given how the original "Gladiator" movie ended, Russell Crowe's Maximus will not take over, though he probably left an indelible mark on the plot and may well appear in one form or another.
Instead, it's Lucius, the son of Commodus's sister, Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), who will advance the story.
Before the "Gladiator" events, Lucilla and Maximus were apparently in a relationship, and their alliance proved essential to overthrow Commodus; Maximus badures that Lucilla and Lucius survive the brief but vicious rule of Commodus.
So who played Lucius in "Gladiator"? It was Spencer Treat Clark, who was recently seen in Marvel's "Agents of SHIELD" television series, the "Animal Kingdom" TV show and the latest episode of "Mad Men".
Not yet in the list of Hollywood stars, nothing indicates that he is resuming his role in "Gladiator 2", but if he did, there would be a precedent: six months after "Gladiator "He was in the" Unbreakable "category of Night Shyamalan as the son of the main character – and he will be Joseph Dunn again in the continuation of the" Glbad "franchise in January 2019.
