Lucy Letby: Police look for nurse at home after arresting health worker suspected of killing eight babies

Police raided a nurse's home after arresting a health worker suspected of killing eight babies and attempting to kill six others.

The police reportedly arrived at the home of Lucy Letby, 28 years old. Tuesday, hours before the police announce the arrest of a "health professional" in an investigation into the death of 17 infants at the hospital of the Countess of Chester.

The inspectors also indicated that 15 cases of collapse March 2015 and July 2016.

Police still have to identify the woman who was arrested.

The arrest is part of a lengthy investigation following a large number of infant deaths in the hospital.

Detective Inspector Paul Hughes, head of investigation for the Cheshire Police Force, said that it represented a "significant step forward"

Police would have arrived at the Mrs. Letby's home around 6 am, while police officers were reported later on her parents' property in Hereford on Tuesday.

In an interview with the Chester And District Standard, in 2013, Ms. Letby said she was looking after babies requiring different levels of support.

She had worked as a trainee nurse for three years before qualifying as a child. Ms. Letby said that she started working on the unit after graduating.

The police did not reveal the identity of the arrested health worker and did not say whether she was a nurse, doctor or nurse. other health professional.

Detectives launched an investigation into infant deaths at the hospital in May of last year, examining the deaths of 15 babies between June 2015 and June 2016.

On Tuesday, police said the investigation was expanded to include a total of 17 deaths and 15 non-fatal collapses of babies between March 2015 and July 2016.

DI Hughes said: "It's a very complex and very sensitive investigation and, as you can understand, we have to make sure that we do everything we can to try to establish in detail what led to those deaths and

"As a result of our ongoing investigations

" She was arrested earlier this morning because she was suspected of murdering eight of her babies and attempted to kill her. murder six of his babies and is currently detained. it is an important step forward in our investigations, it is important to remember that the survey is very active and continues at this stage. The detective stated that the parents of all babies continue to be kept up to date and are supported by specially trained officers.

Un rapport publié en juillet 2016 par le Collège royal de pédiatrie et de santé infantile (RCPCH) a révélé des lacunes importantes dans les rôles médicaux et infirmiers et une dotation insuffisante en personnel à long terme, fortement dépendants et intensifs.

Selon le rapport du RCPCH, les consultants en pédiatrie étaient préoccupés depuis juin 2015 par un nombre plus élevé que d'habitude de décès dans le service, dont plusieurs étaient «inexpliqués» ou «inattendus».
