EDMONTON – After nearly 30 years in public life – including nearly two decades in the Alberta legislature – Brian Mason announced Wednesday that he will no longer stand for re-election.
North Edmonton riding in 2000, and is currently the oldest member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
He became leader of the party in 2004, taking the place of Raj Pannu, before retiring in 2014 to open the door Rachel Notley will win this victory
After the victory of the NDP to victory in the provincial election of In 2015, overthrowing the Progressive Conservative dynasty that had ruled the province for four decades, Mason remained. He is currently Minister of Transport.
Before entering provincial politics, Mason was a member of the Edmonton City Council, created in 1983 and first elected in 1989.
Before entering politics, he worked as a bus driver for the Edmonton Transit Service
