For the first time in five months, the paralyzed Humboldt Broncos player Ryan Straschnitzki is with his family in his hometown of Airdrie, Alberta
Straschnitzki was paralyzed from the chest on April 6 in a collision between the bus carrying the Humboldt. Broncos and a trailer north of Tisdale, Saskatchewan, which killed 16 people and wounded 13 others.
He spent last month at Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia and returned home to Calgary. The airport late Wednesday afternoon
Straschnitzki says it feels good to be at home and that he was looking out the window while the plane was landing in Calgary [19659002] "It was good, it reminded me of memories".
He plans to take a few days off before returning to physiotherapy. He said that the treatment he received in Philadelphia was first clbad and that he helped him a lot.
"I'm confident in my skills now, and now it's just a practice," he said.

Ryan Straschnitzki told reporters who welcomed him at Calgary airport that he planned to take a leave and go at the Stampede with his girlfriend before resuming his physiotherapy. (CBC)
