1 dead, 3 injured, after a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 400 near Barrie

Ontario Provincial Police say one person died after a multi-vehicle collision early in the morning

A police spokesman said the officers were called in the Highway 400 North area towards Essa Road around 2 pm. a vehicle stalled in a traffic lane in a construction zone and two other vehicles crashed as a result.

Police reported that two of the cars caught fire.

A person was declared dead at the scene. Three other people were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries

Police said it was not clear at this point that charges were being laid.

The investigation is underway.
