Winnipeg City Councilor Russ Wyatt, charged with sexual assault, denies allegations – Winnipeg

A long-time city councilor from Winnipeg was arrested and charged with aggravated badual badault.

Global News has learned that Russ Wyatt was arrested Tuesday night and released later.

Wyatt has since refuted the allegations

. Wyatt said:

I have no comments to make regarding the allegation against me except to say that I am innocent of any wrongdoing. I will defend myself in court and I will answer the allegation only in a courtroom.

Const. Rob Carver of the Winnipeg Police Service confirmed the charge on Wednesday.

"Russel George Wyatt was charged with badual badault and he was released on a promise to appear."

Police received a complaint on January 14th. saying that a badual badault had occurred at the Winnipeg residence. Police said the badault was not domestic in nature and did not occur at Wyatt Transcona's home.

The multi-month investigation included several interviews as well as collection of forensic evidence. The results of these tests were returned this week.
