The cyberattacker, who bears the pseudonym Anarchy, boasted of building the botnet using an old vulnerability, ZDNet.com reported Friday. According to a report by Bleeping Computer this new botnet was spotted this week by security researchers from a cybersecurity firm called NewSky Security

. Rapid7 and Qihoo 360 Netlab have confirmed the existence of the new threat by seeing a huge surge in scanning Huawei devices

The botnet writer has contacted Ankit Anubhav, NewSky's security researcher, who Believes that Anarchy is a well-known threat. the actor who previously identified as Wicked.

What surprised security researchers, is that Anarchy built the gigantic botnet in one day using a vulnerability that had been used previously CVE-2017-17215.

Botnets, which refer to an extensive network of slave devices, can be used to perform a distributed denial of service attack (DDoS attack), send malicious data packets to a device, and execute code remotely.
