Francesco Molinari catches the first major victory at the Open Championship

Francesco Molinari played a stable role in encouraging Tiger Woods and another crazy end to Carnoustie to win the British Open and become Italy's first Grand Champion.

Woods provoked the pandemonium by dominating Sunday the first time in nine years, only to lose it with a bad hole. Jordan Spieth is costing himself by failing to make a single birdie.

Seven players had a part of the head at one point. Six were still tied on the back nine.
