BUDAPEST, Hungary – Lewis Hamilton won Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix on pole to extend his lead over Sebastian Vettel.

Hamilton did not tremble when winning a second consecutive victory, fifth in the season and 67th overall.

But Mercedes missed a 1-2 while Valtteri Bottas was dubbed by Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen five laps from the finish

Bottas and Vettel touched the ball during the overtaking, with debris steering wheel of the Mercedes. 19659005] "I got a shot from behind, I was not sure what was going on," Vettel said. "Fortunately the car was not broken and we could continue."

In a dramatic final, Bottas lost control of his car by hitting Daniel Ricciardo's Red Bull while he was about to be dubbed. [19659005] Bottas was told on the team radio to make the position to Ricciardo, who finished a laudable fourth after starting the 12th. Bottas risked a new penalty after being summoned to speak to the commissioners of the incident.

Ricciardo's teammate, Max Verstappen, launched a series of explosives after an engine failure that reduced his race after eight rounds

to finish this season. Red Bull team manager Christian Horner called the Renault engine mediocre. Red Bull is breaking with Renault and will work with Honda next season.

Montreal's Lance Stroll finished 17th

Hamilton now leads Vettel by 24 points after 12 of the 21 races. They will continue their fight for a fifth F1 title when the championship will resume at the GP of Belgium on August 26th.

Vettel and Raikkonen drove hard considering that they both suffered a pit stop missed because of a slow tire change

Raikkonen's strategy meant that Raikkonen was twice twice full of new tires and, on a hot day, Ferrari forgot to tie his drinks.

Hamilton secured pole with a brilliant last lap in the rain Saturday, while Vettel fourth behind Raikkonen and Bottas.

The long straight to the first corner was the best and ultimately the only chance to pbad Hamilton. But he comfortably held his position as Vettel jumped past Raikkonen and almost grabbed Bottas.
