According to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, dozens of wildfires remain uncontrollable in the province, the largest currently measuring more than 82 square kilometers.
According to the ministry's website, 39 fires broke out in the northeastern part of the province as of Saturday night, and 12 of them were out of control.
The largest, known as Parry Sound 33, has been raging for more than a week and continues to threaten part of the Trans-Canada Highway. Ministry spokesman Shayne McCool says the ground crews, badisted by water bombers and helicopters, attacked the perimeter of the Saturday fire "with good results."
