In pbading the sentence, Justice Faour told the court that Lewis had indicated that once released from prison, he would travel to Ontario for the work his father had reserved for him. Faour said, "Imagine my surprise when I learned in the media [of the new charges]. "
Justice Faour says that Lewis' presence in the province contradicts what he said to the court and questions his promise.
Lewis told the judge that he had gone to Ontario but that he had come back and was waiting for the arrival of new identity cards when he was arrested and charged.
Lewis will be back in provincial court next month.
