Milos Raonic withdraws from Paris Masters with elbow injury

Canadian tennis player Milos Raonic retired from Paris Masters with a right elbow injury.

Raonic had to face Roger Federer in a second round match on Wednesday. Instead, Federer was invited to the third round, where he will face Fabio Fognini on Thursday.

Raonic of Thornhill, Ont., Won a tough first-round victory over Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Tuesday (6-7 (4), 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5)).

This tennis season has been tough for Raonic, ranked 21st in the world. He retired from the Monte Carlo Masters in April, injured his right knee, and missed most of the clay court season, including the French Open.

He had problems with the same leg in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon against the American John Isner and needed care on his back in his defeat against the 16th final against the American Open.
