Human remains found on a dirt road near Miramichi during the weekend were identified and their discovery triggered an investigation into a homicide.
Fredericton police said the victim was Candace Rose Winona Stevens, 31, of Fredericton.
The remains were discovered Saturday by a person walking on a dirt road near the intersection of Highway 8 and Highway 415 in Upper Derby.
Police say that she does not believe that there is risk to the public. The Fredericton Police is leading the investigation with the badistance of the RCMP.
