A remaster of Warcraft III has just been announced at BlizzCon 2018 – and set fire to the arena.

The real-time strategy game is still one of the most popular Blizzard fans. He was widely credited with having launched Warcraft as a major franchise in 2002, with over three million copies sold.

Described as a "complete overhaul" of the clbadic RTS, the new version should receive a complete upgrade in terms of graphics, animations and gameplay.

Warcraft III: Reforged sees the original of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, The Frozen Throne, rebuilt from scratch, with a complete visual overhaul including fully redone character models, with rendering support up to 4K.

It will be rebuilt from scratch

This announcement was a surprise to many at this year's Blizzcon, but developer Blizzard had earlier hinted earlier in the year that a potential remastering was on the way when they updated the original version of Warcraft III with new patches.

"Warcraft III is of paramount importance to us here at Blizzard and its influence is evident in everything we have accomplished since," said Blizzard Entertainment President J. Allen Brack.

Character models undergo a complete overhaul

"A project like Warcraft III: Reforged is not something that we undertake lightly, partly because of this legacy, but more importantly because we know what it means for our players," he said. he added.

The Warcraft III mapping community, which has made the game a success since its launch 16 years ago, will not be forgotten in the update, with Reforged touting an improved world editor.

Mappers will be delighted with the update

The remaster is supposed to release the cartographers with the introduction of new tools to create universes intended for the players.

Warcraft III: Reforged will be priced at $ 29.99, while the "Spoils of War" edition will be priced at $ 39.99 – but it will have many extras.

These will include things like a "Meat Wagon" mount in World of Warcraft, a special card in Hearthstone and four heroes in the Storm. Other goodies will be announced at a later date.

The only drawback for fans wanting to start playing is that they will have to wait until next year.
