The Miami Heat unveiled Monday the "City Edition" black jersey that the team will wear from Friday's game against the Indiana Pacers at the AmericanAirlines Arena.
The uniforms follow the similar white editions released last season, both based on pastel colors reflecting South Beach's colors.
The Heat will also unveil a second limited edition uniform for its December 28 home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, currently listed as "coming soon". Games with this designation "coming" continue in January.
It was last January that the Heat officially unveiled their initial uniforms "Vice", a white jersey with pink and blue pastel accents, marketed as reflecting "neon pink sunrise and electric blue nights".
Heat fans have adopted the look of last season to such an extent that the "Vice" jerseys have been put back in place once Dwyane Wade has arrived and editions # 3 have been searched for.
"I love it, I love it," coach Erik Spoelstra said last season, evoking neon pastel hues. "It was one of my favorite TV shows that was growing. I had a totally different view of Miami before coming here and that was what I thought.
"I think it's great, if I had the courage, I would go in a Miami Vice suit, I do not do it, I do not think I can push a mustache to But I think it's brilliant. It captures so much of Miami's 80's culture and players can have fun with it. "
The Heat won a Grand Clio award for the uniform "Vice" of last season. The Clio Awards recognize "innovation and creative excellence in the fields of advertising, design and communications".
Heat's marketing director, Michael McCullough, told ESPN that the team did not have to pay any license fees to "Miami Vice" because it did not use the name or the logos. nor the songs.
McCullough told ESPN that the team was ready to handle the anticipated demand.
"We are ready to meet the demand this time," McCullough said. "We have four places in the city where fans can buy, and anyone who orders online will see the traditional delivery time this year."
The Heat are scheduled for 14 "Vice" matches, which will be accompanied by the field with a matching design.
The Heat will host a "Midnight Madness" event at the American Airlines Arena early Friday morning.
