In September, Chevy introduced the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 2019, a non-slip version of the already-beefy Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, equipped with front and rear lockers. The ZR2 alone costs more than $ 42,000, so it's not surprising that the Bison makes 50.
One of the key features that distinguishes the Bison from the standard ZR2, aside from the obvious CHEVROLET grille, is the skid plate badembly, which protects the oil sump, fuel tank, transfer case and differentials with a hot stamped Boron steel plate, designed by American Shipping Vehicles. You might recognize that this company is turning Wranglers into pickups.
Other changes for the Bison are the steel front and rear bumpers, the latter having built-in recovery hooks. And there are also AEV wheels, large flared fenders and the optional snorkel, which really looks like a tough guy – a bit like an arm with a flexing bicep.
Chevy and AEV announced today that it would cost $ 5,750 more than the standard ZR2. This brings the total price to $ 48,045 for the extended cab and $ 49,645 for the Crew Cab.
So it's one of the most expensive mid-size trucks you can buy today, even though the base price of the largest Ford Raptor is over $ 54,000. It will be interesting to see what Jeep pulls out of its pocket by unveiling its own mid-size pickup truck later this month in Los Angeles.
