Jimmy Butler debut

Jimmy Butler is ready to make his 76ers debut Wednesday night at Orlando.

The Minnesota Timberwolves feels Butler and center Justin Patton to Philadelphia Robert Covington and Dario Saric, guard Jared Bayless and a 2022 second-round draft pick. The NBA approved the deal on Monday.

Butler was not expected to be with the 76ers for Monday night's game in Miami. He will be introduced to his new team on Tuesday.

Philadelphia general manager Elton Brand said Pairing Butler with All-Star Joel Embiid forward and 2017-18 Rookie of the Year Ben Simmons puts the Sixers in contention for an NBA title.

Caris LeVert injury latest

Caris LeVert was stretchered out of the heart of the world and suffered a severe loss of life in the first half of the team's 120-113 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday.

LeVert was trying to defend Minnesota guard Josh Okogie on a transition in the aftermath. He immediately fell to the ground under the basket, grabbed his ankle and stretcher came out.

After being attended for a few minutes, LeVert was taken off the court.

"He is the heart and soul of our program," Brooklyn coach Kenny Atkinson told reporters postgame. "It's a tough, tough blow for the Nets."

LeVert was taken to a local Minneapolis hospital and will undergo a full evaluation, the Nets said. Further updates will be issued as available.

"We did not talk even when we came in at halftime," Nets forward Joe Harris said. "There was nothing to be said." Guys were crying, "It was really that horrific just to see."

Carmelo Anthony exit

With Carmelo Anthony's departure from the Houston Rockets seemingly imminent, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports Monday to the NBA's front offices regarding a potential new home for the 10-time All-Star forward.

Anthony will be on the team for Tuesday's game against the Denver Nuggets, marking his third straight game with the Rockets. The organization says he has an illness.

General manager Daryl Morey called speculation about Anthony's future as "unfair," but ESPN notes the Rockets could place Anthony on waivers as soon as Monday.

According to ESPN, several GMs and their respective coaches are arguing that Anthony could be helpful to their organizations. However, Wojnarowski notes it's a tough time of year for teams to make roster moves, and "patience" could be Anthony's best short-term race of action.

Anthony has appeared in 10 games, with 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in 29.4 minutes.

Anthony, 34, signed a one-year, $ 2.4 million veterans minimum contract with the Rockets after he agreed to buy with the Atlanta Hawks before the start of the season. Houston would be on the hook for that contract if it decides to waive him.
