Police say that there is no threat to the public after a suspicious package has been reported in central Halifax.

The Halifax Regional Police responded Thursday to Thursday morning at 11:50 am in front of 5700 West Street.

The agents of the explosives disposal unit used a robot to examine the package, which turned out to be a bag of clothes.

West Street was closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic between Robie and Agricola Streets for a few hours while the police were investigating. The street reopened around 14:45

It seems that the suspect package is a bag containing clothes. I am told that the streets are now open to pedestrians and will soon reopen to vehicles. @CTVAtlantic # Halifax pic.twitter.com/2Dim5Jd3IM
