Samuel Little, 78, confessed his confessions during a series of interviews with federal authorities and law enforcement agencies from 14 states. The investigators linked him to about thirty crimes so far, but do not doubt confessions, The New York Times reported.
In May, Texas Ranger James Holland went to California where Little was serving three consecutive life sentences for the murder of three women in the 1980s.
During the interview, Little confessed to killing Denise Christie Brothers in Odessa in 1994 and gave details that have never been made public, officials said. Brothers, aged 38, were strangled about a month after his disappearance.
A grand jury indicted Little in July in the murder of Brothers. On Monday, he appeared in Ector County Court for a preliminary hearing, the American Odessa reported.
Holland was able to use the record "as a catalyst to continue to gain Little's trust and information in order to resolve dozens of other cases," said Ector County District Attorney, Bobby Bland, in a written statement.
"Thanks to the hard work and tirelessness of Ranger Holland and the Texas Rangers, Little will be confirmed as one of the most prolific serial killers in the history of the United States, if it's not the more, "said Bland.
Gary Ridgway, nicknamed the Green River killer, was convicted of 49 murders in Washington State during the 1980s and 1990s, the highest number of convictions for murder pronounced against Time reported.
