Reopening of Stanley Parkway after a head-on collision that led a woman to the hospital

Vancouver's Stanley Park Causeway partially reopened Monday night after a rush-hour frontal collision, which sent a woman to the hospital and shut the road back and forth.

Vancouver Police Service spokesman Const. Jason Doucette stated that the accident occurred around 5 pm. PT, involved two vehicles: a Kia Soul and a Toyota Sienna minivan.

There were no pbadengers in the vehicles, but the driver of the van was taken to the hospital with injuries that did not put his life in danger.

"We do not really know what led to the collision or its cause," said Doucette.

The Vancouver police, in an e-mail statement, stated that at 6:30 pm a northbound lane and a southbound lane had been opened. Doucette said the investigators were on the scene to examine the accident.

DriveBC reported that the accident had occurred north of North Lagoon Drive, about halfway in the park.

The causeway leads from the city center to the Lions Gate Bridge, which connects Vancouver to the north coast.
