A woman and a baby whom the police initially thought were in a state of medical distress were found in good health, according to Peel police.
The police were called just before 4 pm Monday, about what they called "suspicious circumstances" at Sugar Maple Woods Park, near Winston Churchill Boulevard and West Britannia Road, Mississauga.
When they arrived at the park, they found blood, forceps and "other evidence compatible with delivery," according to a press release.
But Tuesday night, police announced that the 27-year-old woman had given birth at home a year ago.
The woman has packed everything from birth, including medical instruments and placenta, and put them in a bag that she placed in her freezer and left for the year, police said. .
On Monday, the woman decided that it was time to bring the placenta back to earth, the police said, adding that she had brought everything to Sugar Maple Wood Park and had thrown them into a wooded area.
