Once inside, compatible smartphones can be used as a key with the help of Lincoln's new "Phone As A Key" technology enabled via the Lincoln Way app, allowing owners to lock and unlock to unlock the doors, open the liftgate and start the vehicle. It can also be used to locate the vehicle or record individual preferences for adjusting the position of the seat, mirror and steering column, as well as for comfort and entertainment settings.
Up to four "keys" are provided in addition to the standard smart keychain. If a phone battery dies, you can enter an authentication code on the outside keypad to enter, and then a backup code on the central touch screen to start the vehicle. If a phone is lost or stolen, Phone As A Key can be easily removed.
An advanced front camera also constantly badyzes the road to detect potholes and adjusts the suspension accordingly for a smoother ride.
