Shinsuke Nakamura had a brief presence on SmackDown Live, while he had attacked Rusev before their match.
The WWE champion in the US had two tough weeks to win, losing to Rey Mysterio on SmackDown 1000 and Seth Rollins in Survivor Series. Facing a worthy competition probably took his head, as he attacked Rusev from behind even before their match against the title began. It will be interesting to see how this will happen when Nakamura will show his frustration in his previous losses.
