WOLFVILLE, NS – A 23-year-old university student was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries on November 27, after being hit by a vehicle near the corner of University Avenue and Main Street.
"She was transported with very serious injuries and is at Queen Elizabeth II in Halifax. We are not able to comment on his state of health at this time, "said Kings District RCMP spokesman Jeff Wilson in an interview on Nov. 28.
Wilson confirmed that the woman was a student at Acadia University and that the collision occurred at a marked pedestrian crossing near the school's sports complex at 5:03 pm
A provincial press release issued by the RCMP indicated that paramedics had transported the wounded pedestrian to Valley Regional Hospital, and that ESH LifeFlight had been called to relocate to Halifax.
RCMP officers and collision badysts are still gathering information to determine the cause of the collision, Wilson said.
"It was a little after 5 pm. and it was a dark night with drizzle and I think these could be contributing factors when visibility is limited … we are still in the early stages of the investigation and we will continue to follow up . "
Acadia University spokesman Scott Roberts said a range of counseling services is available for anyone in need of support in this difficult time.
