A video shows the Alberta RCMP firing a driver from a car after a pursuit on a low-speed highway

The RCMP in Alberta made an unusual arrest on Tuesday afternoon following a "slow speed pursuit" along the QEII highway.

The video sent to Global News shows several vehicles slowly rolling along the road behind several RCMP vehicles lit by lighthouses in search of a silver gray Volkswagen Jetta.

As the pursuit continues, the suspect vehicle begins to smoke before stopping on the right side of the road in the grbady ditch, where it continues to roll unevenly.

Then he finally stops near a road sign, with several RCMP officers coming down from their vehicle and approaching the car.

The driver is then pulled out of the driver's side window and stopped.

The RCMP announced Wednesday that a vehicle matching the description of the one presented in the video had been seen running erratically along the route around 2:49 pm.

When an officer from the Blackfalds RCMP detachment attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver escaped and continued to drive in a dangerous manner, police said. According to RCMP spokeswoman Laurel Scott, the vehicle would have moved back and forth between the center line, the entrance and exit of the ditch and driving near the median.

During the incident, the RCMP stated that the driver was driving at a speed of about 60 to 80 km / h, blocking traffic behind the pursuit, with the help of the unit Ponoka Integrated Traffic.

Scott stated that the driver had been pulled out of the vehicle by the window, the officers immediately feeling the need to stop him because of his degree of disability and the fact that the car was smoking.

According to the RCMP, the driver faces charges related to driving, including impaired driving charges.

The RCMP thanked the drivers on the road behind the lawsuit, claiming that in a press release the officers had "a safety pocket to work and manage this situation".
