Apple's best-selling iPhone device is the iPhone XR, according to Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of product marketing. The executive said the phone was the company's best selling iPhone model ever since it went on sale in October. Joswiak's confirmation is somewhat surprising given that Apple would have reduced the production of its 2018 iPhone models. It did not specify the exact number of units sold.
Joswiak's comments were only briefly reported, after saying:
"Since the iPhone XR is available, it has become the best-selling iPhone everyday."
The iPhone XR went on sale in October from $ 749. It follows the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max that were launched in September from $ 999 and $ 1,099 respectively. Notably, despite the release of these phones, he kept the iPhone 8 and 8 and the iPhone 7 and 7 more for sale. With the price of the iPhone 7 from $ 449, the news shows that most customers would prefer newer devices to cheaper models, but will not necessarily get into the premium market of the iPhone XS.
Joswiak also confirmed that Apple would participate in World AIDS Day on Saturday, Dec. 1 by donating $ 1 for every Apple Pay purchase on the Apple Store, Apple.com or via the app Apple Store. He will continue to donate until December 7. In addition, he plans to have 125 Apple Store logos red on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the day.
The iPhone XR Product Red edition was released at the launch of the phone. An unspecified portion of the proceeds from this model is for the fight against AIDS. Joswiak has not confirmed whether a product red edition of the iPhone XS or the iPhone XS Max would also be available.
