The New York Mets are working towards the conclusion of an agreement Robinson Cano and closer Edwin Diaz Yahoo's Jeff Pbadan reports Seattle Mariners.
Pbadsan says that there is a "significant momentum" in favor of an agreement, but notes that there are still some hurdles to overcome. He noted that the seafarers have not yet contacted Cano to waive its no-trade clause and that all actors in the operation should undergo medical examinations.
In addition, medical examinations have sabotaged many agreements. So, these are far from being inconsequential. But overall, the Mariners are extremely motivated to move Cano and they have made significant progress as part of an agreement that would allow Robinson Canó and All Star to get closer to Edwin Díaz with the Mets.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports and The Athletic reports that Private Jarred Kelenic and right-handed pitcher Justin Dunn – two hopes that were former first-round picks – are among the offsets that the Mets and Mariners have discussed for Cano and Diaz.
Diaz, 24, has just finished a campaign in 2018 during which he recorded 57 saves and a deserved average of 1.96. He has a career-high average of 2.64 and has 109 backup opportunities out of 122 since his debut with the Mariners in 2016.
Cano, 36, was suspended for 80 games last season after breaking the baseball drug policy. The second-baseman still managed to hit .303 with 10 homers and 50 RBIs in more than 80 games in 2018, his fifth season in Seattle and 14th in MLB.
In the Dominican Republic, he still has five years left for the $ 240 million contract he signed with the Mariners before the 2014 season. Pbadan says the sailors are "extremely motivated" to move Cano and sources indicate that the Veteran would agree to waive his non-exchange clause if an agreement is reached.
