Look for a Compbad card in a pocket or wallet can belong to a new physical form of TransLink's smart card: the Compbad Card.
Public transportation has announced that the new bracelets, which offer the same ability to listen to a Compbad card, will be available from Monday, December 3.
At the moment, bracelets can only be purchased at the Compbad Customer Service Desk – located at the entrance to Beatty Street from the Stadium-Chinatown station – or at the West Coast Express office at Inside the Waterfront station.
In all probability, if the desire for convenience should not be underestimated, the bracelets will go very fast.
TransLink reports that 2,000 wristbands are available for the first batch, with 1,000 light blue wristbands for runners with an adult fare and 1,000 orange wristbands for runners enjoying a concession fee.
The staff was first seen with these bracelets earlier this fall as part of an extensive testing process.
The bracelets are very durable for frequent use and can be reloaded, just like the card.
Each bracelet costs $ 6.00, the same deposit to acquire a card. If there is enough demand, transit authorities will order more bracelets early next year.
Other major transit systems elsewhere in the world have also introduced wearable designs to their transit payment chip cards.
The Hong Kong MTR Octopus card, for example, also sells Octopus watches, mobile phone cases and keychains that work the same way as the card. There are even collaborations in the field of intellectual property related to pop culture, such as designs featuring Hello Kitty, Monchhichi and Sailor Moon.
