Since its release, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate broke records around the world. In Australia and New Zealand, it's no different. The biggest crossroads in the history of society now officially become the best-selling Nintendo home console game in both countries – surpbading existing launch sales of titles such as The legend of Zelda: the breath of nature and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
According to Nintendo Australia, sales of Ultimate in the first three days were 80% higher than Super Mario Odyssey, which has sold more than 12 million copies worldwide. Another amazing fact is that five of the top ten game launches ever held locally are now on the switch.
Here's what Nintendo Australia's general manager, Kamon Yoshimura, said about the Ultimate milestone:
"We are delighted that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is both the best-selling game in the series and our best selling home console game in Australia and New Zealand. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the biggest Super Smash Bros of all time. We look forward to bringing exciting new experiences to players in 2019 with the new Animal Crossing and Pokémon games, alongside Yoshi's Crafted World, Fire Emblem: Three Houses and more. "
This success follows strong sales in the United States, Europe and Japan. During its launch week, Ultimate is sold to 1.2 million copies in Japan. In the United States, the game has already been moved by 3 million copies and across Europe, it has become the best-selling Nintendo game of all time.
