Under the law filed Wednesday, all cars and light trucks sold in British Columbia should be zero emission by 2040.
Energy Minister Michelle Mungall said the Zero Emissions Vehicle Act was aimed at fighting climate change by phasing out gasoline vehicles.
She added that the legislation would set target dates of 10% of zero emission sales by 2025, by 30% by 2030 and by 100% by 2040.
