A man is in the hospital after being shot in the alleyway of a Mississauga housing tower, according to Peel Police.

The 27-year-old victim was taken to the Trauma Center at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto for treatment. Paramedics described his injuries as serious but not life threatening.

Police responded to gunfire around the building at 3570 Colonial Drive, near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Burnhamthorpe Road, shortly before 12.45 pm Thursday.

The man was shot dead near a BMW sedan, police said. Shell carcbades were found around the vehicle and at least one bullet hole could be seen in the windshield of the car.

A spokesman for Peel Police could not say if the victim was actually in the vehicle when he was shot.

" We call witnesses to contact Division 11 or to contact Crime Stoppers," Const said. Akhil Mooken

No suspicious information was available early Thursday morning, Mooken said.
