A 34-year-old man was shot in front of a Brampton bar Thursday night, according to Peel police.

Officers were called at Slumdog Bar & Grill at a shopping center at 15 Brisdale Drive shortly after 11 pm for a shooting report.

The victim was found outside the institution and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics, according to Peel police. Danny Marttini.

The gendarmerie's homicide unit took control of the investigation.

"There are a lot of witnesses," Marttini said, and officers are investigating security videos that captured parts of the shooting.

Anyone who may have valuable information is asked to contact Peel's 33rd Division, to contact the homicide detectives directly or to tip the Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Police had no suspicious information on Friday morning.

"There is no other information at this time and the investigation is ongoing," said Marttini.

Police said she hoped the security cameras in the square could have captured some of the shooting. (Tony Smyth / CBC)
