A meteorite could exist at the bottom of the ocean

NASA teamed up with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to uncover the remains of a meteorite that lay at the bottom of the ocean. This mission was complicated but it seems that its results are worth it.

The area was explored for seven hours, and robotic vehicles were used to take a look at the bottom of the ocean. Powerful magnets have also been used to collect the remains of the meteorite, as the rocks are metallic. They quickly discovered that it is very difficult to determine which material comes from the space rock, despite the fact that there are high resolution video streams.

Therefore, researchers must bring the samples to the surface and badyze them in order to know if they belong to the meteorite. After the rocks are out of the water, the experts should sort them out and then examine them carefully to find out what they are.

Marc Fries is an expert at NASA and he is one of the team members who had to examine all the rocks to determine if there is any material coming from the Space and cosmic dust. According to him, a pair of small pieces has turned out to have a cosmic origin.

The rocks are quite small, but the experts were able to identify the special features that belong to a meteorite. For example, there is a "melting crust" that looks bright and smooth, which is probably caused by the friction of the Earth's atmosphere.

At the present time, scientists have collected all the fragments and will continue their research to discover those who come from outer space. It would be an amazing discovery that could lead to many scientific discoveries.
