A small plane makes an emergency landing on a busy road in Surrey

Surrey RCMP is investigating a small plane that made an emergency landing on Highway 17 Friday night.

According to the police, at approximately 6:42 pm, police went to an area near Tannery Road for reporting that a plane was on part of the busy road.

Police said a preliminary investigation "revealed that the small plane had encountered difficulties and had been forced to land on the road".

No vehicles or aircraft were damaged during the incident and the police said the occupants of the aircraft had not been injured.

At this point, the police said that the investigation was still in its infancy and that the cause had not yet been determined.

The Transportation Safety Board has been informed of the incident and is also at the scene of the investigation, police said.
