A woman rushes to hospital after being wounded with a "sharp weapon" in Mississauga

A 44-year-old woman was rushed to a trauma center in a life-threatening condition after being wounded with a sharp weapon in Mississauga on Wednesday night.

Police and Paramedics in Peel visited a residence near Bayberry Drive and Winston Churchill Boulevard shortly after 8 pm after someone at home called 911.

"Our investigators are on the scene and are prospecting the area to find witnesses or anyone with information about it," Const said. Akhil Mooken told CP24 by phone.

Mooken said the police were still gathering information to determine the type of weapon used.

No other injuries have been reported as part of the incident.

Mooken said the police were trying to talk to potential witnesses.

"This is a subdivision with a lot of houses. We therefore think that some people could pbad, so we encourage them to call us if they were in the area shortly after 20 hours.

He said that there was no information on possible suspects at the moment.
