Firefighters closely monitor the weather in the Okanagan Valley, BC, where several fires are out of control and thousands of properties remain on the alert.

"The temperatures are going to be a bit cooler … but unfortunately we are waiting for some wind challenges today," Skrepnek said Friday morning.

Officials said the winds were tankers and helicopters that were working on the fire around 6 pm.
On Thursday, the Mount Eneas fire quickly rose to cover 10 square kilometers while strong winds spread the flames.
Friday morning, official estimates fired at the same height, but warned that it was still burning

At least seven major forest fires are burning now in the Okanagan Valley, covering the area with thick smoke.
The largest alert concerns about 600 properties in Peachland near the Mount Eneas fire, the largest in the region.

Doug Oggelsby, a resident of Peachland in a state of evacuation as he only moved to the area in December.
"That was pretty scary," Oggelsby said. Elsewhere in BC B., there are significant fires in the Wycliffe area in the East Kootenay Regional District and in the Dog Creek Trail area of the Bulkley-Nechako Regional District.
