The phones from all over the island were turned on early Wednesday afternoon, as the national emergency alert system was starting to roll out nationwide tests.
At 13:55 local time, notifications were broadcast on many mobile devices, TVs and radios across the province. Alert Ready is deploying alerts by time zone.
I just have an emergency alert on my phone. Like everyone at MUN Field House. I just watched the whole building of sports fans, including the basketball court full of players, all stop to check their phones.

Canada's Alert Ready system has issued a compatible mobile phone alert test issued by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and the Environment.
The alert is just a test and does not require any action.

However, many people said they did not receive a notification. Alert Ready indicates that not all devices will have received the alert. This message has only been displayed on compatible devices connected to LTE networks. However, other factors may have prevented the phones from receiving the notice.
